Polygram has released a new Gulzar-Bhupinder album titled 'Aaj Bichhade Hain', a rehash of classic 'Wo Jo Shayar Tha'. The album comprises of 10 ghazals and nazms covering all 6 of 'Wo Jo Shayar Tha' along with the classic prologue and epilogue commentry in the voice of Gulzar saheb. The album also contains 3 film numbers of Gulzar-Bhupinder team, 'Aaj Bichhade Hain', 'Dil Dhoondhta Hai', and 'Ek akela Is Shahar Mein' and a new ghazal 'Aadtan Tumne Kar Diye Waade' for the Value addition.

IMHO the new additions has caused value deletion in the classic 'WJST'. First of all, its not a good practice to release an old album with new name. It should be taken as a case of fraudity. They should have re-released 'WJST' instead. Also this album fails to deliver what was delivered by 'WJST' primarily due to un-necessary insertions of the film songs.

Anyway, a must for those who are not having 'Wo Jo Shayar Tha'. Not to forget , the original 'Wo Jo shayar Tha' was released in 1981 and some of you might not be able to find it now. Some of the Gulzar's best nazms are sung and tuned by bhupinder including 'Nazm uljhi huee hai seene mein', 'Wo jo shayar tha' and 'Is mod se jaate hain'.

Bhupinder has done a commendable job both as a singer and music director, maintaining the rooh of the nazms. The music is according to the mood of the nazms, and the variations in many of them shows bhupinder's un-noticed talent as a music director. 'Nazm Uljhi Huee Hai Seenay Mein' is certainly the best of the lot. Bhupinder's pronounciation of 'Uljhi' as 'Ulji' is somewhat irritating but the composition covers up.

Apart from 'WJST' list, the album also include three film songs. Due to non-availability of music rights of the films (Thodi Si Bewafai, Mausam and Gharonda, all three are with HMV), Polygram has recorded the songs again and included as live recording (as per section 52 of Indian Copyright Act). A new ghazal 'Aadtan tumne kar diye waade, aadtan hamne aitbaar kiya' is also included. The cassete is priced on slighty higher side (Rs. 65). Its worth the money, only if you are not having 'Wo Jo shayar Tha'.
